Welcome to the CDNE website

Welcome to Community Development North East (CDNE) – a network organisation of people involved in carrying out Community Development work  in the Region.

ABOUT CDNE

We are a network in contact with around 500 community development stakeholders from the community, voluntary, public and private sectors. The network embraces practitioners and activists (paid or unpaid), managers and policy-makers; sub regional and local area CD networks and special interest networks and organisations.

Our Aims

The key purpose of the Network is to assist CD practitioners (paid and unpaid) and policy-makers, from all sectors, to work together to develop and promote Community Development.

To achieve this, we aim to:

  • Provide a focus and ‘virtual’ hub for CD practice in the region
  • Provide a policy forum to inform strategic decision-making
  • Improve information and communication across the region around CD-relevant practice, policy and issues
  • Provide networking opportunities across the sectors
  • Raise the awareness and profile of CD among mainstream agencies
  • Promote and share good practice in CD
  • Improve support, learning and professional development opportunities

CDNE acts as a key channel of communication linking the region’s CD practice with National (and European) networks and organisations including: the national Regional CD Network (RCDN); Community Development Exchange (CDX); the Federation of CD Learning (FCDL); Community Sector Coalition (CSC); Community Development Foundation

CDNE also has strong links with other special interest networks including the NE Equalites Coalition, NE Churches CD group, National Churches Community Work Alliance (CCWA) and the Faith Based Regeneration Network (FBRN)
